Who is SAHAM?
Junaid Seedat (Jum), the founder and alchemist behind SAHAM has been involved in the public health sphere for more than 30 years. His knowledge of sacred plant medicines has lead to the creation of Saham, and the herbal supplements that enable the body to heal.
His work with the Cannabis plant over the last three decades has created an ethos of a commitment to organically grown plants and herbs, thereby ensuring the purest ingredients make up our herbal supplement products.
My Journey of Alchemy!
Where do I start? Perhaps in 1982, District Six, Cape Town, a young althlete, at the height of his swimming and soccer career, is plunged into the underbelly of the enigmatic world of Cannabis.
The first hit on a ‘dagga’ pipe, was the start of a journey that, 37 years later, has transformed into a practice of alchemy, producing medicine from the Sacred Cannabis Plant.
I started to experiment with the plant, making oils, balms and tinctures, all as the experts said I should. But yet again, I expected the sacred plant to surrender her healing powers to me in a matter of hours…this took me back to District Six, 1982, where this sacred plant was once again being used as a quick fix, and not sacred medicine.
Since then, I have questioned the value of the plant to myself. I tended to not be as ill as others around me, I was able to recover from illness far quicker than normal, was I abnormal? Or was I doing something that was considered abnormal by society, since the 1930’s?
Whilst taking many years to realise, I finally acknowledged the lack of respect I had for the plant as medicine. Through a personal shift in intention, I started to respect the plant, and thereby began to understand that the intention with which we Nurture the plant, manifests in the healing abilities of the medicine.
Empowered and humbled, I embarked on a journey with Cannabis that has changed my life and the lives of many that the medicines have touched.
Our Principles!
Naturally Grown Organic Materials
The Marijuana plant is considered one of many sacred healing plants in nature. Ensuring that the plant is organically grown, naturally fed and harvested is critical to affording the plant the opportunity in sharing the medical benefits of the plant. At Saham, we source only plant material that is pesticide and insecticide free, and has been produced ethically. This ensures that our herbal products can be traced from seed to you.
Single strain medicinal products
In order to recommend the correct type of Cannabis medicine, it is important that medication is available for differing conditions. SAHAM endeavors to ensure that all products are made using a single strain of Cannabis, so as to better trace the genetics and hence the effect of the medicine.
Maintaining the integrity of the sacred Cannabis Plant
We use the entire plant, with all its constituent elements, both psychotropic and non-psychotropic, as the only basis for all our products.
Let me explain why SAHAM has chosen to work exclusively with Full Extract Cannabis Oil as our base.

SAHAM stands by the philosophy that nature heals best, and as such, using nature’s products as we find them, make common sense. However, recent Pharmaceutical interventions have led to a surprising acceptance in CBD as the cure all, getting government buy-in across the legalised cannabis world, with minimal evidence to support these claims.
SAHAM does not believe that the invention of man, surpasses that of nature who has been manufacturing this plant since time immemorial.

Taking medicine to the people
As sacred medicine, it is our belief that in the journey towards legalisation, access for the masses to self medicate is not corporatized and made inaccessible to the general public. We are intent on ensuring that this medication be available to all, to grow and make their own medicine within the comfort of their homes.
Intention
Intention is fundamental to the process of alchemy when producing these medicines. The sun works her magic on the plant so that she freely gives of her powers. The rains feed her, the winds strengthen her, all whilst nature runs her course. Processes that are time consuming, yet vital, ensure that nature again plays a major role in the extraction of THC and CBD.
Making of medicines is a process of alchemy whereby the intention of the plant, the alchemist and God are combined towards healing. This process starts with the planting of the first seed, all the way through to the use of the medicine. We are able to trace every step of the process from seed to product, ensuring that no non-organic materials, or pesticides are used in the growing. The process of harvesting in non mechanised, ensuring that the integrity of the plant is maintained.
